WEDDING PLANNING: THINGS TO DO DURING ISOLATION

WEDDING PLANNING: THINGS TO DO DURING ISOLATION

What do you have in common with Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom? What about Jennifer
Lopez and Alex Rodriguez? Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi? The first thing is,
you’re all isolating because of COVID-19. And you’re all having to postpone your weddings
because of the coronavirus. All the wedding planning you and your fiance and bridal party did
has gone down the tubes. All the items on your wedding planning checklist are meaningless.
And the worst part is, there is no timeline when this will be over.

But postponement does not mean your wedding is never going to happen. It means that you
have more time to plan and can take advantage of some unique offers.

Anheuser-Busch, for example, has a huge give-away right now. The giant beer company
reported it has not had any cases of COVID-19 at its plants, but for the safety of everyone
involved, the company has halted its tours. Instead, the brewery is offering a year’s supply of
their bubbly to 250 couples who have had to postpone their spring wedding due to the
pandemic. @BuschBeer recently tweeted:

Your wedding plans may be on ice for the time being, but we wanna give you a wedding gift of
ice-cold Busch. FOR A YEAR. Post a photo of yourselves and tell us how you’re planning to
celebrate, along with #BuschWeddingGift and #Sweepstakes for your chance to win.
While dreaming of Busch beer, you could be like the Queen of England and celebrate twice.
Although the Queen’s actual birthday is April 21st (This year she turned 94!), the public
celebration is some time in June. You can do the same time with your wedding. Katie Teehan
wrote a great article in Glamour about marking your original date by making a day of it.

Among other things, Teehan suggests:

  • dressing up (‘special’ pyjamas)
  • having an online “postponement celebration” with your bridal party
  • eating your favourite food
  • taking lots of photos
  • looking forward to your new big day

Glamour also has a sweet feature about how some couples are dealing with their wedding
favors.

So our wedding has been postponed for obvious reasons and we had 115 chocolate Lindt
bunnies as wedding favours - time for a bunny wedding of course! #CoronavirusLockdown

The tweet included four actual photos of the ceremony, complete with a bride bunny in a veil,
a groom bunny in a tie, rings, and an officiant with a teeny-tiny speech. Check it out at:

Although it can be discouraging to postpone your ceremony, there’s no reason to cancel it
completely. For more information about wedding planning during a pandemic, stay tuned to
