Unit 1: Hardware & Basic Backdrops

In this unit we cover the basics of event hardware, fabrics & basic room draping & backdrops.

Lesson 1: Hardware and Terminology

An introduction to hardware including; baseplates, drape support bars, uprights and crossbars.

Lesson 2: Room Draping and Backdrops

An introduction to draping including: basic draping techniques, room draping, pole coverings and double valance.

Lesson 3: Advanced Backdrops

Expanding on Lesson 2, this lesson focuses on advanced backdrops; curtain backdrop, waterfall, custom and mixed including the crisscross and modern.

Unit 2: Ceiling Draping, Hardware & Alternatives

In this unit we examine the techniques necessary to execute ceiling drapings in a variety of venues & tents. Understanding the hardware & physical necessities to executing a ceiling draping is the key to a successful installation.

Lesson 4: Ceiling Hardware

An introduction to ceiling draping hardware including; hoops, pins, hooks, magnets, click-click system and airwall hangers.

Lesson 5: Ceiling Draping Techniques

An introduction to ceiling draping including; starburst ceiling, starburst layout and linear draping.

Lesson 6: Ceiling Draping Alternatives

Options for creating alternative ceiling draping when you encounter high ceilings or improper connection points. Includes; backdrop to upright and backdrop canopy.

Lesson 7: Table Linen

Learn about the types of table linen styles available on the market, includes table sizing chart.

Lesson 8: Head Table Configurations

An outline of the varying head table configurations you can present to clients.

Lesson 9: Cinderella Skirting

Learn how to create beautiful Cinderella skirting with brooch accents for a custom head table design.

Unit 3: Table Draping & Tabletop Decor

Set the tone and style of your event with your tabletop designs & decor. Stun your guests the moment they walk in with beautiful centerpieces, jaw-dropping linens and a flare for design & creativity. This unit will provide you with the creative inspiration to make our clients say “wow!”.

Lesson 10: Table Draping

An introduction to ceiling draping hardware including; hoops, pins, hooks, magnets, click-click system and airwall hangers.

Lesson 11: Specialty Tables

Learn how to create traditional and modern table draping including fancy skirting and edging.

Lesson 12: Elements and Principles of Design

A review of specialty table options and beautiful design ideas to inspire your clients.

Lesson 13: Chair Design

An outline of chair types, seating options, chair covers and chair bows.

Lesson 14: Centerpiece Design

This important aspect covers centerpiece design options, popular glassware to inventory and how to accessorize your centerpiece including inspiring design ideas.

Lesson 15: Tabletop Design

Learn about the fundamentals of tabletop design including; design components, maximizing design impact and top styling ideas. Completed with team hands-on design module.

Unit 4: Ceremony Structure & Decor

Create incredible receptions & structures for your guests with stunning four post canopies, chic & modern round canopies, pew markers, aisle draping & more. With a comprehensive understanding of the ceremonial & structural decor aspect of weddings

Lesson 16: Ceremony History and Traditions

Review the history of the wedding ceremony and its traditions.

Lesson 17: Ceremony Design

Be inspired by the many design options available for ceremonies. Includes fabric aisle draping.

Lesson 18: Four Post Canopy

Learn how to execute a traditional four post canopy with various design elements.

Lesson 19: Round Canopy

Using techniques taught in Lesson 17 you will learn how to execute a round canopy.

Lesson 20: Lighting Types and Techniques

Understand basic lighting concepts and related equipment.

Unit 5: Marketing & Starting a Small Business

Learn how to launch your own event business from the ground up, and hear our how instructors built their successful event biz! Get critical information on how to reach & grow your client base, the best way to conduct client consultations to close the sale, how to price your services according to the market as well as access to templates & resources to get your business up and running!

Lesson 21: Starting Your Business

Planning your roadmap to success! SMART goal setting, small business insurance, bookkeeping basics and business communications.

Lesson 22: Social Media and Marketing

Factors that influence a strong marketing strategy including, networking, tradeshows, website, SEO, social media, promotion and basic photography.

Lesson 23: Consultations and Pricing

Consultation guidelines, booking questions, pricing factors, proposal process, contract and portfolio permission rights.
